Sion Softball Service Project
Members of the varsity and junior varsity softball teams went to the home of Mrs. Peters, who lives at 28th & Van Brunt, on Friday, August 18 to clean up her yard and her adjoining lot.
Mrs. Peter’s is a 94-year old woman originally from Italy. She and her husband came to the U.S. when they were very young. She and her husband built this house 58 years ago. Mrs. Peters’ husband died in 1999 and has been unable to care for her yard since his death.
Coach Keech, while working through the Bishop Sullivan Center, met Mrs. Peters this past summer when he installed an air conditioner for her. He noticed her yard resembling a jungle and mentioned it to the girls. The girls all decided they would go as a team to help trim trees, bushes and to mow her yard. | ||||||
