MSHSAA Class 2 District 14 Champions

The Storm soccer team will be playing the Kearney Bulldogs at Sion at noon in the MSHSAA quarter finals. Admission is $6 for everyone.

 

The Storm soccer team defeated Grain Valley in the sectional game, 2-1.

 

Meghan Kearney broke the school record in the 800 Saturday at the sectional track meet. Unfortunately, she placed 5th just missing a trip to the state meet. Congratulations on a great season to Meghan and all the members of the track & field team.

 

Congratulations to the Storm soccer team on their District 14 Championship, they beat Raytown South 9-0. They will play Grain Valley on Tuesday in the sectional game.

 

The Storm soccer team beat Northeast 13-0 to qualify for the MSHSAA Class 2 District 14 Championship on Wednesday against Raytown South.

 

Congratulations to Meghan Kearney on her 2nd place finish in the 800 at the district meet. She will compete at the sectional meet next Saturday.

 

The soccer team defeated Maryville 3-1 on Monday at Senior Night, the jv tied 1-1. Tonight they travel to Lee's Summit North.

 

Congratulations to Grace Keane on her Honorable Mention selection to the Kansas City Star's All-Metro Basketball Team.

 

The lacrosse team had a great trip to Rogers, Arkansas. The varsity won 19-3 vs Columbia, 18-1 vs NW Arkansas, and Arlington 17-1. The jv beat Wichita 16-1, Columbia 10-2, NWA 11-5 but lost to Arlington 6-5.

 

The soccer team beat Belton 5-1 in the Raytown Tournament Friday.

 

Congratulations to the jv soccer team on their victory last night over Belton in the Raytown tournament, this earned them 2nd place.

 

The varsity soccer team beat Ruskin on Monday and will play Grain Valley on Thursday.

 

Congratulations to the soccer teams, they were both victorious Friday against Raytown. The varsity won 3-2, while the jv won 10-0.

 

Congratulations to Grace Keane on being selected to the GKCBCA's All-Academic team and winning the Barrett Wepler #4 Award for excellence in the classroom and on the court.

 

Grace Keane will be playing in the Missouri vs Kansas All Star game tomorrow night at

6:00 at Shawnee Mission South High School. Congratulations, Grace!

 

The varsity and jv soccer teams were victorious in their home openers against Harrisonville. The varsity won 2-0 and the jv won 8-1. They will play Christ Prep on Saturday.

 

The lacrosse teams opened their seasons with wins over Lee's Summit North. The varsity won 13-11, while the jv won 8-0.

 

Congratulations to Jodie Rellihan on being seleted to the All-Tournament team at the MO-KAN.

 

The Storm's basketball season ended in a heartbreaker as Smithville beat the Storm on a last second shot, 43-44, in the MSHSAA Class 4 Quarter Finals. Congratulations to all Storm basketball players and coaches on a great season!

 

Grace Keane hit a 3 point shoot as time expired to give the Storm the sectional win over the Chicks of Pleasant Hill, 37-34. They will take on the Warriors of Smithville in the Quarter Final game this Saturday at 2:45 at the Independence Sports Center.

 

The Storm basketball team defeated Pembroke Hill, 49-30, Monday to capture the MSHSAA Class 4 District 14 Championship. They will take on Pleasant Hill on Wednesday at 7:45 at Blue Springs South High School.

 

The Storm basketball team defeated the Stars of St. Teresa's, 52-39, to regain the Irish Cup on Senior Night.

 

Congratulations to the swim/dive team on their best state finish ever, a tie for 2nd. Meghan Kearney (200yd IM, 100 Butterfly) and Kristine Sullivan (200 yd IM) earned All-State Honors as did the following relay teams. The 200 yd medley team (Laura Klover, Kristine S., Meghan K., Hannah Tutera) placed 8th, the 200 yd freestyle relay team (Laura K., Carolina Dugan, Hannah T., JT Nelson) placed 7th, the 400 yd freestyle relay team (Meghan K., JT N., Hannah T., Kristine S.) placed 3rd. Congratulations to all.

 

Great team effort from the Storm as they beat the Warriors of St. Pius X, 64-33.

 

The Storm basketball team fell to the Bears of Ursuline Academy on Friday, 64-70.

 

Congratulations to Grace Keane on reaching 1,000 points in her basketball career.

 

The basketball team won their game against the Gryphons of University Academy, 66-16.

 

The basketball team beat the Golden Eagles of Leblond High School on Tuesday, 73-42.

 

The swim/dive team went to Sprinfield over the weekend and returned as the Springfield Invitational Champions. Congratulations!

 

Congratulations to the swim/dive team on being selected the Hy-Vee Team of the Week.

 

The basketball team handled the Stars of St. Teresa's Thursday, winning 56-35.

 

The basketball team beat the Spoofhounds of Maryville. Varsity won 70-46, whie the jv score was 32-17.

 

Congratulations to the Swim & Dive team for their performance at this weekend's Kansas City Classic Invitational.  Out of the 18 teams competing, the Storm was 2nd in the J.V. competition 1st in Varsity, narrowly defeating Blue Springs and St. Teresa's.

 

Congratulations to the swim team on their 3rd place finish at the Parkway South Invitational over the weekend.

 

Congratulations to cross country runner Julie Steilen on being selected to the KC Star's All-Metro Honorable Mention team.

 

The Storm beat the Celtics of O'Hara, 57-37 on Friday. They will play Blue Valley North in the opening round of the MO-KAN Tournament on Monday, January 14.

 

Congratulations to Grace Keane on being selected as the KC Star's Athlete of the Week.

 

The basketball team handed Harrisonville their second loss of the season on Tuesday.

 

The Storm swim/dive team won the Northland/Park Hill Invitational over the weekend.

 

The basketball team split their games this weekend on their trip to Jefferson City. Friday, the Storm beat the Lady Jays of Jefferson City but couldn't hang on Saturday against the Crusaders of Helias.

 

Congratulations to the following Storm athletes on being selected to the KC Star's All-Metro Honorable Mention team. Amenda Malecki (golf), Brydie O'Connor (tennis), Michaela Henne (tennis).

 

The basketball team beat the Cardinals of Benton on Monday, 46-42. The jv team also won, 48-39.

 

The basketball team defeated Lee's Summit in the final round of the Lee's Summit North tournament, 50-36.

 

The varsity had a big 3rd quarter, scoring 20 points, on their way to defeating Lee's Summit West in the Lee's Summit North tournament on Wednesday.

 

The basketball team lost to William Chrisman in the first round of the Lee's Summit North tournament. They will take on Lee's Summit West in the second round. The jv team lost to William Chrisman, in overtime, in the first round of the Lee's Summit West tournament.

 

The Storm basketball team opened the season with an exciting win over the Cameron Lady Dragons, 55-51. The jv also opened the season wil a will, 48-15.

 

Congratulations to the following Storm volleyball players on their selection to the All-District team: Lexi Johnson (1st team), Megan Bohannon (2nd team) and Lauren Dwyer (HM).

 

The cross country team placed 5th at the MSHSAA Class 3 State Championship. Sophomore Julie Steilen led the team with her 15th place finish.

 

Congratulations to the cross country team on winning the MSHSAA Class 3 District 7 Championship over the weekend.  This is the 15th time in the last 17 years they have been district champions. Julie Steilen was the individual champion.  

 

The Storm volleyball team gave Lee's Summit West, the no. 1 seed, a great match in the district semi-final but ultimately fell 20-25 and 18-25.

 

Both the varsity and jv field hockey teams were victorious over St. Thomas Aquinas in the last game of the season. The varsity team won 4-0 and the jv won 2-0.

 

Doubles team Brydie O'Connor & Michaela Henne came back to win a close match to take 5th place at the MSHSAA Championship, earning them All-State honors. Congratulations to them and the entire team on a great season.

 

Congratulations to the cross country team as they won both the jv and varsity races at their last regular season meet, the Richmond Invitational. The Storm also had the individual winner of both races, Julie Steilen in the varsity and Olivia Dugan in the jv.  The district meet is next Saturday, Oct. 27 at Ray-Pec High School.

 

Congratulations to freshman Madison Heide on being selected to the All-Region 4 Class 4 Softball team.

 

The cross country team will be traveling to Richmond on Thursday for their last regular season meet.

 

Good luck to doubles team Brydie O'Connor and Michaela Henne as they head to Springfield Thursday for the MSHSAA Class 2 State Individual tournament.

 

The volleyball team ended their regular season last night against Blue Springs South. They start district play next Monday agasint Belton.

 

Congratulations to the golf team on their 3rd place finish at the MSHSAA Class 2 State Championship. Grace Keane and Amanda Malecki tied for 23rd, Hannah Malvey was 38th, Maura Healy was 60th, and Claire Kramer was 90th. Congratulations of a great year!

 

The softball All-District team has been announced. Jenna Bolton & Madison Heide were selected to the 1st team, while Chris Flucke & Maddye Wilson were selected to the 2nd team. Congratulations!

 

After the first day of competition in the MSHSAA Class 2 Golf Championship, the Storm is in 2nd place 9 strokes behind Lafayette.

 

The tennis team's season came to an end on Saturday as they fell to Lee's Summit North, 4-5, in a very long sectional match.

 

The volleyball team went undefeated as they captured the Harrisonville Tournament Championship.

 

The cross country team won both varsity and jv competitions at the Warrensburg Invitational in impressive fashion. The varsity scored 28 points and the jv scored a perfect 15 points.

 

Congratulations to doubles team Michaela Henne and Brydie O'Connor on advancing to the state tennis tournament next week.

 

The volleyball team beat the Lady Dragons of Cameron.

 

The volleyball team beat University Academy 25-5, 25-16 on Senior Night. Congratulations.

 

Congratulations to the golf team on their 2nd place finish in the sectional tournament on Monday. They will be competing in the MSHSAA Class 2 State Championship next Monday and Tuesday.

 

Volleyball Senior Night is Monday. Come and support the team as they recognize their seniors as they take on University Academy.

 

Anna Koutelas (singles), Brydie O'Connor and Michaela Henne (doubles) advance from the district tournament and will play in the tennis sectionals on Tuesday.

 

The varsity field hockey team beat visiting Heritage Hall 3-0, while the jv won 1-0.

 

The varsity and jv cross country teams both place 4th in the Kearney invitational over the weekend.

 

The softball team ended their season with a disappointing loss to Belton in the district semi-finals, 2-3. Congratulations on a great season.

 

The tennis team took care of Lee's Summit West 6-0 to capture the MSHSAA Class 2 District 13 Championship.

 

The Kansas City Star All-Metro selctions for soccer are finally out. Mary Boos earned 2nd Team honors and Caroline Shay earned Honorable Mention honors.

 

Congratulations to the softball team on their first round district win over Grandview. They will play Belton tomorrow at 4:00 in semi-finals.

 

The field hockey games against Heritage Hall scheduled for this weekend have been moved to Pembroke Hill.

 

Another close match for the volleyball team on Monday. This time they were on the losing side of a 25-22, 21-25, 23-25 score. They will play Smithville on Tuesday.

 

The Softball team won their last home game of the 2012 season 11-1 over Mid-Buchanan. They will travel to Oak Grove tomorrow and then start district play on Wednesday agaisnt Grandview.

 

The Storm golf team won their 13 consecutive district championship Monday. They qualified to play in the sectinal tournament next Monday. Amanda Malecki and Hannah Malvey shot 86 (tied for 7th place), Grace Keane and Maura Healy shot 87 (tied for 9th place), and Claire Kramer shot 98 (15th place). Congratulations and good luck next week.

 

The Sion came out on top of an exciting volleyball game last night against St. Pius X, 25-21, 26-28 and 25-21.

 

The softball team topped O'Hara 11-0 Thursday night.

 

The jv tennis tournament scheduled for today has been moved to Friday.

 

On Monday, the golf team will be in Jefferson City, the softball team travels to Adrian, and the tennis team takes on St. Teresa's. Good luck to all.

 

After advancing to the championship bracket of Lee's Summit North's Bronco tournament the Storm volleyball team lost in the quarter finals.

 

The Storm Harriers, led by Julie Steilen's 4th place finish, placed 3rd in the Blue Springs Invitational. Other medalists: Lauren Blando, Anna Demetee and Molly McCarthy. Caroline Thompson won the jv race, leading the team to a 2nd place finish.

 

After winning the first game 26-24, the Storm volleyball team lost the next two 22-25 and 17-25 to the Jays of Jefferson City.

 

Sion is hosting a jv golf tournament today and the volleyball team is hosting Jeff City.

 

The softball team lost 1-10 to Rock Bridge on Wednesday.

 

The field hockey team scored a goal in the last minute to secure a win, 2-1, in their season opener against Pembroke Hill.

 

Congratulations to the golf team on their 3rd place finish in Sedalia. Sion medal winners were, Amanda Malecki (9th), Grace Keane (10th), Hannah Malvey (13th).

 

The cross country team placed 3rd in the Ray-Pec Invitational. The jv team placed 8 runners in the top 10 and claimed the top 5 spots for a perfect score.

 

The softball team will be hosting Grain Valley on Friday.

 

The softball team beat St. Teresa's Academy 17-2 on Wednesday.

 

The volleyball team fell to St. Teresa's on Wednesday in two games.

 

The golf team won the Richmond Invitational by 11 strokes on Wednesday.

 

The Storm softball team defeated Adrian 8-0 on Tuesday.

 

The cross country team opened their season on Saturday at the Liberty Invitational. The freshman started the season off with a perfect score placing 7 runners in the top 10. The varsity placed 3rd in the small school division.

 

Jennafer Bolton and Madison Heide both hit home runs in the Storm's 16-1 victory on Thursday.

 

The volleyball team came up a little short in their opening matches, losing to Hayden (19-25, 16-25) and Aquinas (17-25, 11-25). All three teams will be playing St. Teresa's next Wednesday, September 5 in their home opener.

 

The softball team won their home opener against St. Mary's 15-0.

 

The golf team won the Liberty North Tournament. Grace Keane place 2nd shooting an 80, while Amanda Malecki placed 6th shooting an 89.

 

The softball team spent Saturday competing at the Ray-Pec Tournament. They beat Grandivew 10-2, lost to Pleasant Hill 5-14, beat O'Hara 15-2. They lost in the semi-finals to Ray-Pec 2-5.

 

The cross country team had great weather for their time trial Saturday morning. They were led by Julie Steilen and Meghan Kearney. Complete results are on the cross country page.

 

The golf team won the Ray-Pec Tournament by 4 strokes. Amanda Malecki & Margaret Brandmeyer were medalists. Maggie Nelson & Camille Keane placed 6th.

 

The golf team won their tri against St. Teresa's and Lee's Summit North on Thursday by 18 strokes. Amanda Malecki was the medalist.

 

The Storm softball team opened the season with a 14-1 victory over the Lady Bulldogs of Grandview on Thursday.

 

The golf team opened their season by placing 3rd at the competitive Liberty Invitational on Wednesday. They will be taking on Lee's Summit North and St. Teresa's today at Minor Park.
